It's About Friggin Time....(aka Trip to San Diego 2011)

Yes, have endured much verbal abuse about the lack of posting here in the land of GJAC...I take most of the blame as I am really the sole poster on said blog, but my excuse is a good one and I have a new momcafe Facebook Page, regional webpage, Twitter followers, a business blog, e-newsletters, 2 live events, 1 workshop, sponsors, new members and much more completed in the past 3 months to show for the lack of personal blogging!!

So enough with that and onto the good stuff. We decided that we desperately needed to get out of this blasted long and dreary and illness filled winter and our destination had to meet some strict criteria - a) short flight b) sunny and warm c) be loads of fun. So we googled a bit and decided on a 5 day getaway to San Diego which met all the criteria and more!

There is a great area called Mission Bay that has miles of walking paths, playgrounds, great beaches, Sea World and Mission Bay Village - we had a great time exploring and doing our first wave jumping and ice cream eating of the trip!

We almost gave LegoLand a pass after a few shady reviews from some people on the mini-bus to the rental car place but in the end we went and we LOVED IT. Legoland has lots of things to do and see and they just build a brand new water park that opened this past Spring that is a days worth of fun just in itself. And yes, all of these creatures and characters are made of Lego!!

Super fun day at Sea World and another day in the sun! Highlights included Jasper and Dad's trip on the mega coaster/log ride that I was too afraid to even go on, plus the Sesame Street Themed area for the youngins. Shamu was a a bit of a bore, and painfully hot sitting in the ampitheatre. All in all a super fun day and two exhausted little boys at the end of it!

Several lessons learned in hindsight...defintely take more than 3 days to explore San Diego, there is so much to do and see and it's good to have a few rest days in between the crazy theme park days! Other lesson learned was to not go to the Zoo (which was quite amazing) but quite frankly a bore for J and G after two fun filled days at theme parks. But, we did have a quintessentially California afternoon in La Jolla at the beach and at Jose's authentic Mexican - muy bueno!!
